The Big Question now is where Bill Brooks pop up next in NCC, where will his good friend Peter Hillman put him in his council, will Bill get a portifolo in Peters Cabinet ?
Follys believes a deal was done to give his friend Bill a job in Cabinet ?
So Bill would not starve as he lost his Leaders allowance ?
Hillman put forward to be next county council leader
A NEW man is in line to take over the running of Northumberland County Council.
Coun Peter Hillman has been chosen by the Labour group to become group leader, taking over from Coun Bill Brooks who stepped down due to health reasons.Coun Hillman, who represents Blyth Valley Holywell and is deputy leader with the county council, is now waiting for his appointment as council leader to be ratified at the county council's annual general meeting next week.He said: "Bill is pleased to be handing the reigns over to someone he has every confidence in to carry on the good work he has started and to lead the council forwards in the right direction."Bill Brooks has been an excellent leader moving the council forward, modernising services and making difficult but necessary decisions."Bill has been suffering from ill health for some time and had a short spell in hospital recently."He understandably needs to concentrate on making sure he remains well and healthy and took the decision to stand down as leader on these health grounds and I would hope that fellow councillors will respect this decision."Coun Brooks, who represents Newsham ward, had been council leader for two years, taking over from Coun Michael Davey.
