Mr Reid who’s claim to aceesssion was based upon the zero stars awarded to the Supporting People programme in his portfolio, has indeed got the Deputies allowances, sorry - position.

The new leader of Northumberland County Council, Coun Peter Hillman, has promised to lead it in the right direction.
Coun Hillman was chosen to take over the leadership from Coun Bill Brooks at a county Labour Party AGM.
Coun Hillman said: "Bill is pleased to be handing the reigns over to someone he has every confidence in to carry on the good work he has started and to lead the council in the right direction."


Could it be that the reporters are on to a bigger story – why Billy has stood down?
Obviously if it was bad health or stress, he wouldn’t be angling for a portfolio in the cabinet. Those positions will be announced this week.

Or could it be that an impending tribunal for wrongful dismissal is looming over Billys patio – do we all remember that?
We said it it would rear up and it has, the only problem is that it looks like Peter is being dragged into it as well!
The well publicised dismissal of two men for doing jobs for Billy was nothing of he sort. The press were misled – what did Peter know of this? – the answer, everything!

Yep Peter will continue the County down the same path of closures redundancies and cuts to services that no one wants. He knows no better – the officers will continue to make policy and lead them on.

Could you imagine either of these two running everything in a single council – its beyond their capabilities even now with what they have left.
